#OpinYon #WebExclusives Another JV-Jinggoy rift Looms? The rift between brothers former Senator Jinggoy Estrada and Senator JV Ejercito again sizzles. Speculations of a rising conflict between the two came after Jinggoy contradicted his half-brother’s statement about what really caused the hospitalization of their father, former President and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada. Estrada had been rushed to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City on December 21 with pneumonia, news reports have said, quoting Jinggoy’s half-brother JV Ejercito. But on December 27, Jinggoy clarified that his father was rushed to the hospital not for pneumonia but for “an asthma attack due to overfatigue and because of the weather.” It’s interesting how this surprising twist will play out, given that the two brothers have found themselves in disagreements in the past. In the height of the 2013 pork barrel scam, the two siblings’ relationship have soured after JV Ejercito signed a committee report implicating Jinggoy, among other lawmakers, in the P10-billion fund anomaly. Ejercito later acknowledged his “shortcoming” in signing the report without telling his brother. Politics has also played a role in their complex relationships, as JV is the Estrada’s son by San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez while Jinggoy is the former President's son with former Senator Luisa “Loi” Ejercito. In 2012, the two brothers had admitted to a “tepid” relationship after JV decided to use the name Estrada to bolster his political image, at Jinggoy’s expense. http://ift.tt/2ilZI58
